Ukrzaliznytsia in 2013 cuts handling of containers by 12%

Ukrainian railways in 2013 reduced transportation of containers to all destinations (import, export, transit, internal transportation) by 12% compared to 2012, to 80,481 TEU.

Most containers were transported by the train running on the Slovakia (Kosice)-Russia (Perspektiva) route - 15,878 TEU.

Today 14 container trains operate on the territory of Ukraine. Transportation by container trains accounts for 40% of the total volume of transported containers across the country.

Given the potential of the market of transport services, State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia is working to attract additional cargo flows to the territory of the country, expanding the geography of international projects involving Ukraine's railways.
