Donetsk Railways in January-April increases cargo handling by 2.7%

Donetsk Railways in January-April 2014 increased cargo transportation by 2.7% compared to the same period in 2013, to 43.2 million tonnes, which is 1.9% up on the target.

Traditionally the main type of cargo transported by the railways is coal: within the four months the railways loaded 25.8 million tonnes. An average of 215,403 tonnes of coal was loaded daily, which accounts for 59.7% of the total volume of traffic on Donetsk Railways.

Donetsk Railways noted that compared to the same period of 2013 there was an increase in the loading of following cargo: ferrous metals - by 19.6%, coal - 3.9%, grain - 37%, and refractory materials - by 22.9%.

A reduction in loading was seen in terms of coke - by 12.4%, construction materials - 5.9%.
