Pivdenno-Zakhidna Railways in August 2014 increased cargo loading compared to August 2013 by 2.04%, to 3.497 million tonnes.

The railway station in Donetsk has been partially damaged in the fighting, and currently only the room for ticket pre-sales is operating.

Donetsk railways halved coal shipment in January-July 2014, from 30.5 million tonnes to 15.7 million tonnes.

After restoration work local residents who had to leave their houses are returning to settlements liberated from anti-government militants: from July 9 to July 14, 3,100 people used electric train No. 6289 Kharkiv-Pasazhyrsky-Lozova-Sloviansk to return to Sloviansk.

State-run Lviv Railways in January-June 2014 cut the loading of cargo by 2.1% year-over-year, to 9.691 million tonnes.
