Donetsk Railway sees three times fall in loading of cargo in August

Donetsk railways in August 2014 cut cargo loading by three times compared to August 2013, to 4.144 million tonnes.

The main type of cargo for the railways is coal, and its loading was cut by 4.3 times, to 1.64 million tonnes.

The reduction in cargo shipments considerably worsened the financial state of Donetsk railways, which finally was the reason of the failure to obtain large revenues, and the issue of the payment wages and social guarantees to employees of Donetsk railways as foreseen in the collective agreement is very urgent.

Due to military operations in the eastern part of Ukraine over 50 cargo stations of the railways are unable to dispatch cargo.
