The journal "Railway transport of Ukraine"

The journal of research and practice "Railway Transport of Ukraine" is issued since May 1996 (registration certificate KV № 1429 dated 10.05.1995). The journal founder is the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine; the legal successor is the Joint Stock Company "Ukrainian Railway" (JSC "Ukrzaliznytsya"). The journal publisher is the branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" - "The Rail Transport Scientific and Engineering Institute" ("SEI" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsya"). The International Standard Serial Number of the Journal is ISSN 2311-4061. The journal is listed in the List of scientific professional editions of Ukraine were the results of the thesis for the scientific degrees of doctor and candidate of technical sciences can be published, according to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 975 of 11.07.2019.

The articles published in the journal "Railway transport of Ukraine" are referenced in the information and analytical database RINTS, using the tool Science Index and are added to the nationwide abstract database "Ukrainika scientific" and to the Google Scholar search engine.

The journal is registered in the Crossref system and all its publications (articles) are provided with the international numerical identifier DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

Electronic versions of the journal "Railway transport of Ukraine" are stored at the National Library of Ukraine named after V.I. Vernadsky and presented in the portal in the information resource "Scientific periodicals of Ukraine"

The partners of the journal are the enterprises and branches of the Joint Stock Company "Ukrainian Railway", the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, domestic and foreign educational institutions and scientific institutions.

The conceptual orientation and the publications level of each issue of the journal are determined by the decision of the scientific and technical board of "SEI" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsya".

Requirements for materials of publications

List of obligatory elements of the article submitted for publication in the journal of research and practice "Railway Transport of Ukraine" (RTU):

Introduction. Problem statement in general terms and indication of its connection with scientific or practical tasks, literary review of existing methods, approaches, solutions to the established problem.

Goal - aims, the article objectives.

Subtitle (feature section) of the article. Presentation of the main research material with substantiation of the obtained results.

Summaries and perspectives of considered further research in the different direction.

Abstracts to the article (in the language of the original and in transliteration).

All structural elements of the article should be boldface type.

The material should be briefly, consistently, stylistically right, with reference on literary sources. Units of measurements should be submitted only in SI system.

Responsibility for the materials given in the article is the responsibility of the author. The editorial staff reserves the right to require authors to provide additional expertise the materials of the article and to decide viability of its publication based the results of internal or external review.

Materials for publication in the journal RTU are submitted to the editorial office in electronic form, with attached files, on email ztu1520mm@gmail.com. In a separate file or letter, it is necessary to add an appeal to the editorial office about the publication of the article and the guaranties of the author (co-authors) that the materials have not previously been published and have not been sent for publication in other publications. Materials for publication may also be provided by courier or by post at any terms (CD, DVD, Blu-ray, flash drives) at: 39, I. Design of the article text:

1. The text of the article (1st file) must be prepared in the format of the text editor of MS Word in Ukrainian, Russian or English. At the beginning of the article you must specify: the detailed UDC index, authors' surnames and initials, their degree or professional status, the title of the article, and the keywords underneath. Formulas in the text of the article should be typed in the Word formula editor, rather than by transferring them (copying) from editors MathCad, MathLab, LabView, and others. Placing in the text of the chart, tables, graphs should also be executed only by means of MS Word or MS Excel of any generations. Illustrations in the form of pictures and photographs must be submitted in a separate 2-file, in raster formats - jpeg, tif, gif, etc. - with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Images should be placed in the text of the article, or in the drawing area there should be a link to the name of a separate file with the picture. In the text of the article, the images and tables shown above must have binding references to them. The total text of an article should be 5-10 pages of A4. The material is printed in 1 interval without hyphens in the font 12 Times New Roman, the fields to the left, the top, bottom, right, 2 cm, the paragraph is 1.25 cm.

2. Abstracts to the article (3rd file) are in Ukrainian (35-50 words), in Russian (35-50 words) and detailed, with a list of literature, transliteration, (100-250 words) in English.

3. The information about the authors (4th file) should include: full name (fully in Ukrainian, Russian and English, the name of the institution of full-time employment, position, academic degree or professional status (qualification) by education or state (engineer, master's degree, researcher, post-graduate student), contact phone and e-mail, mailing address for correspondence and sending back the copy of RTU.

4. The references should contain 10-20 names and be issued according to the requirements of State Standard of GOST 7.1: 2006. References in English must be compiled according to the APA standard (http://www.apastyle.org/) translated and transliterated in Latin for Cyrillic sources; its numbering should identify the list of literature, which is presented together with the article. Self-citations in the article should be no more than 30%.

5. Color photographs of the authors are given optionally.

Articles are prepared for publication and issued in the order in which the editorials receive them from reviewers and authors after the final rewrite of the material.

DEVELOPMENT OF A METHOD OF UPGRADE THE RELIABILITY OF THE BALLAST

SECTION BY INCREASING OF SERVICE LIFE

     Introduction

     One of the important elements of the upper structure of the railroad is the ballast. It provides the stability of the track under the influence of train loads and changing temperatures. On the network of "Ukrzaliznytsia" the most common material for the formation of inspections, diagnostics of individual sites, performance of work on its current maintenance and repair. The current content of the ballast is to systematically monitor its condition, identify the causes of malfunctions and eliminate them. It is conducted continuously along the entire length of the track, the volume and timing of the work is determined taking into the ballast prism is rubble. The thickness of the crushed ballast layer on the main and station tracks, turning transfers is 250 to 400 mm, and the width of the ballast prism should be 350 to 450 mm [1]. Indicators of strength, durability and reliability of ballast are provided by periodic account seasonality and local conditions [2].

       Існуючі різноманітні методи підвищення термінів служби баласту та надійності систем сигналізації, централізації та блокування не в повній мірі задовольняють сучасним вимогам, що пред'являються до елементів верхньої будови залізничної колії. На основі проведених лабораторних досліджень запропонований метод обробки часток баластної призми, який у подальшому може бути використаний для підвищення термінів служби баластної призми, а також підвищення надійності систем сигналізації, централізації та блокування на підприємствах залізничного транспорту.

       Ключові слова: щебеневий баласт, забруднювачі, органічні речовини, термін служби, надійність роботи.

Существующие различные методы повышения сроков службы балласта и надежности систем централизации, автоматизации и блокировки не в полной мере удовлетворяют современным требованиям, предъявляемым к элементам верхнего строения железнодорожного пути. На основе проведенных лабораторных исследований предложен метод обработки частиц балластной призмы, который в дальнейшем может быть использован для повышения сроков службы балластной призмы, а также повышения надежности систем централизации, автоматизации и блокировки на предприятиях железнодорожного транспорта.

       Ключевые слова: щебеночный балласт, загрязнители, органические вещества, срок службы, надежность работы.

The numerous existing methods for increasing the life cycle of the ballast and the reliability of signalling and interlocking systems do not fully meet the modern requirements for the permanent way elements. On the base of the laboratory research conducted the method of ballast section treatment has been proposed. Then it can be applied for increasing the lifecycle of a ballast section and also improving the reliability of signalling and interlocking systems at railway enterprises.

        Key  words: macadam ballast, pollutants, organic matter, lifetime, reliability.

Process and policy of reviewing

        All materials submitted for publication are sent for review. For this purpose, the editorial office of the journal "Railway Transport of Ukraine" provides the specialists able of competently assessing the articles.

The reviewers of the journal, in the majority, are the members of the editorial board. In some cases, specialists of the "SEI" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" or other domestic and foreign scientific institutions who have the appropriate scientific experience and qualification may be involved.

For the objectivity of the review, the editorial board uses the technique of "Blind Review". The article is sent to the reviewer electronically together with the reviewer's card (see Example) without indications regarding the authors' personal data.

A review of the work contains an assessment of the relevance of the topic, scientific novelty, practical significance of work, as well as the degree of relevance of the purpose of the article and its conclusions. The results of the review are previously communicated to the editorial office in abridged form by e-mail, after which the answer with the visa reviewer is sent to the editor in paper form. In the case of a positive review, if necessary, work is carried out with the authors on the removal of certain comments made by the reviewer, after the article is sent to form the journal original layout for printing. If the article requires a fundamental amendment, then, after correction by the authors, it may be sent for re-review.

In case of refusal to publish article an appropriate explanatory letter is sent to the author.


The duties of the reviewer include:

1. Determine the correspondence of the material outlined in the article, the log profile.

2. To evaluate the relevance of the content of the article: whether the level of material contained in it is consistent with the current achievements of science and technology.

3. To measure the novelty, scientific level and practical value of the research results.

4. Indicate how much the requirements for the preparation of the material of the article are taken into account: the correspondence of the volume of the article, the existence of an annotation in Ukrainian, Russian and English, the transliteration of the names of the sources, the availability of the list of references and references to it in the text, contact information of the authors, etc.

5. To give a qualitative and / or quantitative assessment of the material in the article: actual and illustration.

6. Estimate the completeness and reliability of the provided calculation or experimental data.

7. Evaluate the correctness and accuracy of definitions and formulations.

8. Give an assessment of the presentation style of the material.

9. To make substantiated conclusions about the article as a whole and the possibility of its publication in the journal "Railway Transport of Ukraine", as well as give comments, if necessary, and recommendations for its improvement.


Ethics and academic honesty of the authors

The author (or collective of authors) should be aware of the primary responsibility for the scientific novelty and reliability of the results of scientific research and to adhere to certain principles in the formation of the article.

• The authors of the article should provide reliable results of the research. Manifestly false or false statements are unacceptable.

• Authors should ensure that the research findings presented in the provided manuscript are completely original. The borrowed fragments or statements should be made with a mandatory reference to the author and the original source. Excessive borrowing, as well as plagiarism in any form, including unformed citations, rephrasing or assigning rights to the results of others' research, are unethical and unacceptable.

• It is necessary to recognize the contribution of all persons who have influenced the course of the research, in particular, references should be given in the article to the works which were important during the research.

• Authors should not submit to the journal a manuscript that has been sent to another journal and is under consideration, as well as an article already published in another journal.

• Co-authors of the article should indicate all persons who have made a significant contribution to the research. Among co-authors it is unacceptable to indicate persons who did not participate in the study.

• If the author finds significant errors or inaccuracies in the article at the stage of its consideration or after its publication, it should as soon as possible inform the editorial office of the journal.
